WHAT IS STRESS

Stress is primarily a physical response. When stressed, the body thinks it is under attack and switches to ‘fight or flight’ mode, releasing a complex mix of hormones and chemicals such as adrenaline, cortisol and norepinephrine to prepare the body for physical action. This causes a number of reactions, from blood being diverted to muscles to shutting down unnecessary bodily functions such as digestion.

We live by the myth that stress is the enemy in our lives. The real enemy is our failure to balance stress with intermittent rest and stress reduction. Push the body/mind too hard for too long-chronic stress-and the result will indeed be burnout and breakdown. But subject the body to insufficient stress, and it will weaken and atrophy.

Why Me?

You have to have talent to win, but you can lose with talent, and that’s where coaching can make the difference.” I trust you’ve got the talent. Experience the coaching difference. Everyone needs a coach for the same reason that everyone needs a mirror. While the mirror reflects reality, it cannot help us change what it reveals. The coach, on the other hand, is an enabler of behavioral changes that can create a new reality. I have experienced many of the great stressors in life…marriage, divorce, raising children, starting a business, moving, losing loved ones, accidents, being robbed and having a gun put in your face, success, and failure, to name a few. Been there done that…not a young, inexperienced individual providing some book knowledge or buzz words to placate you. Besides my formal education (Master’s Degree Exercise Physiology, Post Grad work at the University of Physical Culture studying Sport in a Soviet Society) I have years of experience in working with stress reduction via wellness and wellbeing techniques. I have over 25 years in the wellness space. I have assisted in creating concepts such as the WestinWORKOUT for Starwood Hotels and the WORKOUT ROOM for TDIC in Abu Dhabi. I have also coached athletes from true beginners to Olympic caliber. However, one of my best characteristics is my ability to truly “listen.” To get an understanding of what you are going through, and provide a legal level of confidentiality, so you can be assured what you share will go no further. I also understand that I am not a medical practitioner and I want that to be clear to you. If I feel I cannot help you, I will let you know at the onset.
